Coach Aftab started playing tennis in 1995. He was later playing juniors tournament back home in Pakistan and ranked number 3 in Juniors. He also represented his country at the Juniors Davis Cup twice in Malaysia and Indonesia. Aftab participated in British tour in 2008 where he reached quarter finals in ITF tournaments. His LTA rating in UK is 4.2.
The shoulder injury in 2013 made Aftab reconsider his tennis career and he considered coaching. Over the years Aftab has been coaching in various schools. There he played in local and regional tournaments. He was a hitting partner of several professional tennis players and some other young talented players. In the beginning of 2022 Aftab completed his ITF qualification, the same year he joined PRO Tennis Academy.
